3 million people displaced in the largest city in the Middle East
where my aunt, uncle and cousins still live
where my grandfather and mothers are buried
in a city of over 10 million
after the oil refinery was struck
raining black chemical rain
It is hard to think of anything but this
I'm traveling for work
building a company
doing the best thing I can think of doing
which is to educate myself, to build material to educate others
some things you cannot educate with the head
they only happen in the heart
I used to write poetry every day, it has been years since then
I ask my friend what I can do
he said, "the world needs poets more than ever"
it is hard to not think about war
