When the greatest comforts come in routines
in habits, possibly imprinted, or self created
we program ourselves
conscious and unconsicous

most of our time
is no longer
spent looking into the windows of our eyes
it is spent
looking into the windows of machines

We still hold hands, give hugs
embrace the feelings
and share the names of those feelings
but perhaps they aren't the same
as they were before

It is when we walk on the beach
when we slowly sip a coconut in the sun
when we forciably remind ourselves
that no, we are not machines
do we become human again
